Despite being on a month-long leave, PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli showed up at the party’s Central Leadership Council (MPP) meeting over the weekend, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed on Monday.
Speaking to reporters after attending the “Temu Anwar IPTS” event at Management and Science University (MSU) in Shah Alam, Anwar assured that Rafizi’s presence and the party’s discussions went positively.
“Rafizi attended yesterday. We discussed the results. It was good, Alhamdulillah,” Anwar said, offering no further comment on Rafizi’s leave or ongoing speculation about his political future.
Rafizi’s appearance has drawn attention as he had been officially reported to be on leave since April 30. A Cabinet minister had earlier acknowledged his time off, which fueled speculation that Rafizi might be preparing to resign from his ministerial role or take a step back from frontline politics. His attendance at such a pivotal meeting, however, suggests he is still actively engaged in party matters.
In a related development, PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh earlier announced that the party has officially endorsed the results of its recent internal elections. The announcement comes amid complaints of irregularities and surprise losses for several prominent leaders.
Fuziah explained that the party’s leadership reviewed the complaints thoroughly and ultimately decided to stand by the election outcomes. She noted that reports from both the Party Election Committee and an independent international digital auditing firm were considered in making the final decision.
According to her, all 220 branch-level results have been validated, reaffirming the party’s commitment to strengthening internal democracy and transparency. She emphasized the overall process reflected PKR’s goal of becoming a more inclusive and participatory political movement.
The recent internal polls have attracted scrutiny from both within and outside the party, especially after unexpected defeats of senior figures raised questions about the electoral process. However, the leadership appears firm in moving forward.
