PKR leaders refute claims of contesting alone in Johor state election, pledging commitment to Pakatan Harapan coalition and structured consultation
JOHOR BAHRU: PKR has strongly denied a media portal report claiming it would contest solo in the upcoming Johor state election.
Johor PKR chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa described the claim as inaccurate and speculative. She said it did not reflect the actual position of discussions at the party or Pakatan Harapan level.
“PKR Johor remains committed to strengthening cooperation with component partners in PH, especially Johor, to ensure stability and continuity of the reform agenda for the people,” she said in a statement.
She added that any election strategy would be determined through structured consultation within the party leadership. These discussions would also occur at state and national PH levels.
Dr Zaliha said the party’s current priority is strengthening its ground work. It is also focused on supporting federal government policies that benefit the people.
PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh also described the portal’s report as untrue and misleading. She stated there was no sign the party would go it alone.
“There is no effort or rumour that PKR will contest solo,” she told reporters in Kota Bharu. Fuziah stressed that PKR will contest under the PH coalition in the state election.
The Johor state government’s term of administration is set to end in April 2027. This date will give way to the state election.
