The Central Leadership Council (MPP) of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has approved a motion backing the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel in support of justice for the Palestinian people and the establishment of a free and independent Palestinian state.

PKR’s Chairman of the International Relations Bureau Dr Maszlee Malik said the council recent meeting also sanctioned the formation of a dedicated committee to examine the issue and propose BDS measures that Malaysia could implement either unilaterally or in cooperation with other nations.

“The BDS strategy was previously employed during the 1980s and 1990s to oppose the apartheid regime in South Africa. The BDS Committee will present its proposals to the MPP.

“Once approved at this level, these ideas will be discussed more broadly within the Pakatan Harapan coalition and with other alliances under the MADANI Government. The proposals will then be submitted to the Cabinet for approval and implementation,” he said in a statement today.

The MPP also agreed to appoint Dr Maszlee to lead the newly established BDS Committee. - November 12, 2025
