PKR’s Sukma Waja programme aims to mobilise women, deepen community support, and boost female representation in Parliament through activism and education.

KUANTAN: Parti Keadilan Rakyat has launched the Wanita Jelajah Desa programme, known as Sukma Waja, to bolster community strength and grassroots engagement.

Wanita PKR chief Fadhlina Sidek said the initiative aligns with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration to win public trust.

She explained the programme combines activism through ground engagement with education on women’s rights advocacy.

“We believe that when women are prosperous, protected and given due attention in economic, social and educational development, the nation will also prosper,” Fadhlina told reporters after officiating the Sukma Waja Carnival at Taman Gelora.

The Education Minister said the focus will be at parliamentary and party levels to strengthen communication with the people.

She launched the Silat Srikandi Gelanggang Seri Teja martial arts programme at the same event.

This will be a key Sukma Waja activity to encourage teenage participation in healthy pursuits and self-defence.

Fadhlina stated the programme includes modules by Wanita Keadilan Pahang to educate and empower young women.

She pledged to intensify efforts to spread the Sukma Waja message for women’s wellbeing nationwide.

On political representation, Fadhlina said PKR will continue working to increase women in Parliament, which remains below 30%.

She expressed confidence that providing opportunities for women would make Malaysia an example of female success in governance.
