PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has deployed 3,000 field team members to conduct door-to-door and grassroots engagement in constituencies it will contest in the 17th Sabah state election, scheduled for 29 November.
PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the party machinery had been active on the ground since May and had, by September, reached more than 200,000 Sabah residents, with the majority expressing support for the unity government and PKR.
“These field teams do not only meet among themselves, but also reach out to the people to find and identify the sentiments of the community, their interests and their priorities,” Bernama cited him saying at the PKR Public Assembly and Sabah State Election Candidate Announcement Session on Sunday night.
PKR president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced 10 candidates from the party who will contest the election.
He said Pakatan Harapan (PH) would field candidates in 23 seats, aiming not to compete for power for its own sake, but to represent Sabahans effectively.
“We will listen to various views but our mission is grounded in facts. PH is contesting around 23 seats. We are not competing in the name of PH to form the Sabah Government,” he said.
Anwar emphasised the coalition’s commitment to good governance and anti-corruption measures, adding that PH must win convincingly to serve as a strong bulwark for Malaysia and Sabah.
“Whoever cooperates with us must comply with proper governance, stop corrupt practices, and use funds to fully serve the people,” he said.
Within the coalition, DAP has announced candidates for eight seats, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will contest the Sulabayan seat, while UPKO has yet to confirm its allocations. All component parties will use the PH logo in the election, except UPKO, which may use its own logo. - November 10, 2025
