PKR WANITA chief Fadhlina Sidek expressed full support for Nurul Izzah Anwar's candidacy for the position of PKR Deputy President in the upcoming party elections.

According to Fadhlina, Nurul Izzah's candidacy is a manifestation of the party's grassroots desire for change based on stability, continuity and loyalty to the party's struggle.

"Izzah is a young leader who was born from the wave of refomasi and has been at the forefront of every important phase of Keadilan from the establishment of the party, bringing the people's voice in Parliament to the formation of the MADANI Government," she said in a statement on Wednesday.

Fadhlina said Izzah's nomination as PKR Deputy President also reflects the party's commitment to strengthening the national political rejuvenation agenda by providing space for young and female leadership.

Earlier, PKR Youth chief Adam Adli also expressed his support for Izzah to contest the deputy presidency.

Adam said that Izzah, the daughter of party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, had not only emerged as a principled figure and one of integrity in a complex political situation, but was also capable of injecting the “Reformasi” spirit into a new generation of PKR members.

He said Izzah had also been consistent in pushing for justice, integrity, and institutional reforms.

“Nurul Izzah has been part of PKR’s history and she is also its future,” he said in a statement.

Support for Saifuddin

Meanwhile, 10 PKR divisions in Sarawak voiced their support for Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to take over as deputy president.

"We are of the view that Saifuddin should take over the deputy presidency. Due to his years of dedicated service, contributions and loyalty to PKR, he deserves to be the deputy president," said the divisional chiefs from southern and central Sarawak.

In a statement, the group members were named as Mukah head Mohd Arwin Lim Abdullah; Sibuti head Louis Jampi; Lubok Antu head Tet Tugang; Batang Sadong head Bahrudin Shah Ibrahim; Puncak Borneo head Chee Phin Khoo; Kota Samarahan head Nazirol Samaail; Selangau head James Jalai Gayau; Kuching head Ng Kim Ho; Lanang head Micheal Lee; and deputy secretary general Tay Wei Wei.

According to the group, Saifuddin should be given the opportunity to lead as deputy president to help president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim strengthen the party and continue the reform agenda.

The group said Saifuddin has proven to be among leaders who contributed a lot to PKR as well as one who is loyal to the party and Anwar. - May 7, 2025
