After a case of an alleged fraud involving the misuse of an Aadhaar card of a man, Tarsem Bhardwaj, from Beeja village in Ludhiana district came to light, an RTI activist, Arvind Sharma, has sent a complaint to the Punjab State Human Rights Commission.

The activist demanded strict action against the drug de-addiction centre in Khanna for committing a blunder. Due to the ‘mischief’, a layman was portrayed as a drug addict in the government record as 98 tablets of buprenorphine were procured from a private de-addiction centre on his Aadhaar card.

Meanwhile, sources said DIG, Ludhiana, has assured a detailed probe into the matter and action against the culprits, whose negligence projected a common man as a drug addict.

“I have also sent a complaint to Punjab DGP to seek action against officials for delaying registration of an FIR in the case. When it is clear that it is a fraud case, an FIR should have been registered. But months have passed and I have been running from pillar to post to seek legal action,” alleged victim Tarsem.
