Plane passengers pulled from fiery wreckage after crash on highway

Passengers were pulled from the fiery wreckage of a small plane following a crash on a Texas highway that killed one person.

Video shows the aircraft on its side and ablaze as motorists exited their vehicles to try to assist. Bystanders tried to smash the cockpit window and free the passengers stuck inside.

The business jet, which was carrying six people, crashed on the Loop 20 highway near the Texas-Mexico border shortly after 10pm on Tuesday (16 June).

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Five people were taken to local hospitals and were reported to be in stable condition.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries to those in vehicles on the highway, though five officers were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
