- Sony has confirmed that prices for its PlayStation hardware, including the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal, will increase globally starting from 2 April.
- The new UK prices will be £569.99 for the base PS5, £519.99 for the PS5 Digital Edition, £789.99 for the PS5 Pro, and £219.99 for the PS Portal.
- Sony stated the price adjustments are due to "continued pressures in the global economic landscape" and are a necessary step to maintain high-quality gaming experiences.
- The price rises were initially leaked by French content creator Gyo, who has a track record of accurately predicting console price changes, including previous Xbox increases.
- The increases come amidst broader industry challenges, such as component shortages for gaming and PC hardware, partly driven by investments in AI data centres.
