Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim directs all ministries to include Felda in all new projects, ending its isolation and ensuring access to government facilities
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has declared that Felda must no longer be treated as a separate entity.
He stressed that the Federal Land Development Authority must be fully integrated into the nation’s development agenda.
Anwar issued a directive to all ministries and government departments during a Cabinet meeting. He instructed them not to exclude Felda areas when implementing any new projects or initiatives.
“Government facilities, whether in education or social services, must also reach Felda communities,” he said.
The Prime Minister was addressing Felda staff and the community at Menara Felda. He stated that the old approach of treating Felda as independently operational must end.
Anwar expressed optimism about Felda’s future, citing recent improvements in production, governance, and settler welfare programmes.
He acknowledged the organisation’s past difficulties, including the tough decision to delist FGV Holdings from Bursa Malaysia.
“It was a tough decision arising from serious problems, but the move has now become a key driver in restoring Felda’s position,” he said.
Anwar also commended Felda’s management for embracing digital transformation. He highlighted its focus on innovation, value-chain development, and sustainability.
These efforts align with national priorities like energy transition and economic modernisation. Anwar stressed that integrity and ethical conduct must remain Felda’s foundation.
He proposed a large-scale 70th-anniversary celebration within Felda areas themselves. The event should strengthen the spirit of the settler community, he suggested.
Entities within the Felda ecosystem, like Koperasi Permodalan Felda Berhad, should help organise it. With determination and government support, Anwar said Felda can remain a successful national legacy.
