PM Anwar Ibrahim Ranked Among World’s 18 Richest Leaders, Just 2 Spots Below Singapore’s PM

If you can recall, Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim repeatedly told Malaysians that he would not be taking salary if he won the 15th General Election (GE15), a promise which he kept, even 6 months after getting sworn in as the PM.

Regardless, PM Anwar Ibrahim is ranked 17th on the list of 18 of the world’s richest leaders, with assets allegedly worth USD2.4 million (approximately RM11 million), based on a released financial report.

Anwar declared his assets, comprising a house and 3 pieces of land in November 2022, hoping to force opposition candidates to do the same ahead of the election.

The report also said that Anwar refused to use a Mercedes-Benz limousine purchased by one of his predecessors, who’s currently in prison on corruption charges.

Apart from Anwar, other ASEAN leaders included in the list of richest leaders in the world are Philippines President Bongbong Marcos and Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
