PM Anwar invites Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson to visit Malaysia next year for a lecture on democracy, peace and harmony.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has invited Indian historian Rajmohan Gandhi to visit Malaysia in the first quarter of next year to deliver a lecture and share his views on democracy, peace and harmony.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said the invitation was extended during a telephone conversation with Rajmohan, who is also the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi.

During the conversation, Anwar said they recalled their meeting at a conference on democracy in Asia organised by Rajmohan in Mumbai in 2012.

“I also invited him to visit Malaysia in the first quarter of next year to deliver a lecture and share his views on democracy, peace, harmony and values-based leadership with scholars, university students and community leaders,” he said.

The Prime Minister said they also exchanged views on efforts to strengthen the historical and civilisational ties between Malaysia and India through academic, intellectual and inter-civilisational cooperation.

“May this long-standing friendship continue to grow stronger,” Anwar said.
