Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will meet state leaders to discuss the global energy crisis and its economic impact, with further briefings planned.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will meet all menteris besar and chief ministers tomorrow to discuss the global energy crisis and its impact on the national economy.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil (pic) confirmed the meeting at a weekly press conference today. He said the session will examine measures and joint efforts the Federal and state governments can undertake.

Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesperson, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof is expected to hold a press conference tomorrow afternoon. A follow-up statement from the Prime Minister is also possible.

He added that the National Economic Action Council meeting scheduled for next week will continue to assess current developments. Any further announcements will follow that meeting.

On March 27, Anwar said he would call a meeting with state leaders and key political figures to receive briefings on the economy. This follows the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

He stated that briefings by the National Security Council and the National Economic Action Council would help determine the next steps. This includes assessing whether a Parliamentary sitting is needed to deliberate on the course of action.
