
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visits Sabah to officiate the state-level Kaamatan Festival 2026 celebration on Thursday.
KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to visit Sabah tomorrow to officiate the state-level Kaamatan Festival 2026 celebration.
The aircraft carrying the prime minister is expected to arrive at Terminal 2 of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) tomorrow morning before he proceeds to Penampang.
Anwar is scheduled to arrive at Hongkod Koisaan, the headquarters of the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA), at 11 am to officiate the festival’s highlight event.
The prime minister is also expected to take part in the symbolic rice harvesting ceremony and visit traditional ethnic houses showcased within the KDCA compound.
Following the event, Anwar is scheduled to return to Terminal 2 of KKIA before departing for Kuala Lumpur, concluding his official working visit to the state.
Kaamatan is Sabah’s annual harvest festival, celebrated as an expression of gratitude for a bountiful rice harvest, and is marked by a range of cultural performances and traditional events, including the iconic ‘Unduk Ngadau’ beauty pageant.
