Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim issues a stern warning against obstructing police actions, especially in cases involving major criminal syndicates and corruption.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim issued a stern warning against any interference in the work of the Royal Malaysia Police.

He specifically cautioned influential parties against obstructing legal action, particularly in cases involving large-scale criminal syndicates.

Anwar stated that the past tendency to shield powerful individuals had hampered effective law enforcement.

“Do not interfere with actions taken by the PDRM and enforcement agencies,” he said at the 219th Police Day commemoration.

“At times, those providing protection are influential figures. This complicates the work of the police.”

He affirmed giving a clear directive that serious action must not be obstructed in any way.

Anwar also praised the police force for its growing resolve in tackling entrenched illegal syndicates and corrupt figures.

He commended the PDRM for dismantling these networks through professionalism, determination and courage.

The Prime Minister said the government is committed to ensuring laws are not shaped to favour select powerful groups.

He highlighted public recognition of police sacrifices in maintaining Malaysia as a peaceful nation.

Anwar urged personnel to strengthen professionalism and integrity as pillars of national transformation.

He stated that security provides the foundation for focusing on economic and digital reforms.

“In any reform agenda, peace is the fundamental prerequisite,” he added.

The event also saw the launch of the MESRA PDRM Book, a crime awareness module for youth.
