PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all parties to refrain from using racial issues as political tools to gain support or undermine opponents.
His remarks come in response to recent controversies surrounding sensitive topics related to race, religion, and the monarchy (3R), which have sparked debates and discussions across the nation.
Anwar stressed sensitive issues should be addressed through the proper legal channels rather than being exploited for personal or political gain.
“No party or community leader should manipulate racial issues for personal interests because, if this continues, it will only serve to divide and destroy the people,” said Anwar, stressing the importance of unity in a multiracial and multi-religious society.
He added the government must take a firm stance, asserting that any form of insult or degradation of individuals' dignity will not be tolerated.
“In our country, which consists of various races and religions, any form of humiliation or belittling of individuals is unacceptable.”
The Prime Minister reiterated while Islam is the religion of the Malaysia and should be upheld, it is equally important to ensure the continued harmony and peaceful coexistence among all the nation’s communities.
“Islam is the religion of Malaysia, and we uphold its status. However, we must continue to maintain harmony and peace in our diverse society,” Anwar said.
He made these comments after attending Friday prayers at the Masjid Ternas Jernang in Bandar Baru Bangi, where he addressed the media. – March 7, 2025
