PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim presided over the 148th Meeting of Chief Ministers and Governors (MBKM) at the Parliament building yesterday, highlighting the importance of enhanced collaboration between Malaysia’s federal and state governments.
In a Facebook post, Anwar explained that the meeting focused on strengthening coordination in policymaking and the joint implementation of development initiatives to ensure they are more organised and effective.
“This meeting concentrated on efforts to reinforce cooperation between the Federal Government and the State Governments, particularly in the coordination of policies and the implementation of joint development initiatives in a more structured and effective manner,” he said.
The Prime Minister added that the welfare and well-being of the people remained a central consideration in all discussions.
“Every decision and plan outlined can be translated into real, tangible benefits that are directly experienced by the public, especially those most in need,” he said.
The MBKM serves as a platform for federal and state leaders to align on governance priorities, address local development challenges, and ensure that national policies are effectively executed at the state level. - February 11, 2026
