PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated the seven young men who bravely rescued three accident victims in Tasik Biru, Kundang, Rawang yesterday.
Anwar, in a Facebook post, said he was moved to read the stories of the bravery of all the young men who acted quickly to jump into the lake to save the mother and two small children.
“Their daring decision to prioritise the lives of others, even at the risk of their own safety, has saved three lives. My sincere appreciation goes to these seven young men,” he wrote.
Anwar added that their bravery and selflessness exemplify profound human values and compassion.
The Prime Minister also offered prayers for the woman and her daughters, aged three and six, wishing them a swift recovery and continued protection.
According to reports by Kosmo!, the dramatic rescue unfolded around midnight when the screams of the trapped passengers alerted local youths to the accident.
A Proton X50 had plunged into Tasik Biru, leaving the occupants stranded as the vehicle began to submerge.
Mohamad Fahmi Ismail, 33, one of the rescuers, recounted that he had been enjoying a meal when a message in the community WhatsApp group alerted them of the submerged car.
“We rushed to the scene and were met with a panicked situation, with the screams and cries of the children coming from the sinking vehicle,” he said.
The group immediately jumped into the lake, successfully rescuing the mother and her two daughters, who were later taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment. - February 25, 2026
