PM hails NADMA as pillar of national resilience on 10th anniversary

PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has praised the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) for its steadfast service over the past decade, describing it as the nation’s “bulwark” against crises and urging the agency to strengthen its role in building a resilient and secure Malaysia.

In a message shared across social media to mark NADMA’s 10th anniversary, Anwar said the milestone should be seen as “not merely a celebration of past achievements, but a new beginning”.

He called on the agency to “enhance preparedness, embrace technological advances and deepen collaboration to address future challenges”.

“Today, 1 October, marks ten years that NADMA has served the nation and its people. For a decade, NADMA has been on the front lines whenever disaster struck, from floods and landslides to haze and the pandemic,” the Prime Minister said.

“Every crisis has demonstrated NADMA’s unwavering commitment to protecting the lives, property and well-being of the Malaysian people,” he added.

Anwar also expressed the government’s and the public’s gratitude for the dedication and sacrifices shown by NADMA personnel throughout the years.

NADMA was formed in the aftermath of the devastating 2014–2015 northeast monsoon floods, taking over disaster management responsibilities from the National Security Council. It now serves as Malaysia’s principal agency for disaster preparedness and response, with a remit that includes national, regional and international coordination. - October 1, 2025
