PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim joined mourners this afternoon to perform the funeral prayer for former Chief Justice Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad at the Musolla Taman Selatan in Precinct 20, Putrajaya.

Arriving at approximately 4.50pm, the Prime Minister first performed the Asar prayer, which was led by prominent lawyer Datuk Zulkifli Noordin.

The solemn occasion drew a gathering of senior judicial and political figures, including current Chief Justice Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, Putrajaya Member of Parliament Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin, and former Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapha Mohamed.

The funeral prayer itself was led by Imam Rafuwan Putra Affendi of Masjid Mahmudiah, Precinct 18, and attended by around 200 family members, friends, and colleagues of the late jurist.

Tun Abdul Hamid, 84, passed away today at the Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM, where he had been receiving treatment since 9 February for age-related ailments. He is survived by his widow, Toh Puan Hamidah Choong Abdullah, and their four children.

Following the funeral prayer, his remains were interred at the Putrajaya Islamic Cemetery in Precinct 20, marking the final farewell to a distinguished figure who left a lasting impact on Malaysia’s judiciary. - February 19, 2026
