PM reiterates subsidy rationalisation not implemented to inflict pain on the people

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated that the electricity tariff adjustment and the diesel subsidy rationalisation were not implemented to inflict pain or suffering on the rakyat (people).

The Prime Ministed said that instead, billions of Ringgit saved from the actions, were now being channelled back to the people in terms of other subsidies and cash transfer.

"That is what we’ve done and will continue to do, as we proceed boldly on the course of structural reforms," he said in his speech before launching the Khazanah Megatrend Forum 2024, here, today.

Also present were Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
