DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim seized the opportunity of the extended public holidays during Hari Wilayah and Thaipusam to inspect the operations of the Electric Train Service 3 (ETS3) along the Kuala Lumpur–Johor Bahru route, operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB).

Sharing the experience on his official Facebook account, the Prime Minister said the visit allowed him to engage with passengers directly and hear firsthand their views and feedback regarding the new service.

“Alhamdulillah, the responses received were very encouraging, particularly regarding comfort levels and a smoother, more organised travel experience,” he said.

Anwar emphasised that the government’s MADANI agenda remains committed to prioritising the development of public services that are safe, efficient, and citizen-friendly.

The ETS3 service on the KL Sentral–Johor Bahru route commenced operations on 12 December last year. It is expected to cut travel time to approximately 4.5 hours, compared with the current five to seven hours by road.

With the introduction of this service, the rail network along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia now operates fully on double-track electrified lines, extending from Padang Besar in the north to Johor Bahru at the Singaporean border, marking a significant milestone in Malaysia’s public transport infrastructure. - February 1, 2026
