PM urges all parties to embrace chance for lasting peace in Gaza amid ceasefire progress

PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all relevant parties to seize the current opportunity to work towards a comprehensive and enduring peace in Gaza, following encouraging reports of progress in ceasefire negotiations.

He described the development as a hopeful sign after months of unbearable suffering and destruction in the region.

Anwar emphasised Malaysia’s unwavering commitment to championing truth and standing firmly with the international community against the atrocities inflicted by the Zionist regime

“I welcome reports of progress in negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza. Every effort that can bring an end to the violence and protect innocent lives must be pursued with sincerity and urgency,” Anwar said in a Facebook post today.

He also reaffirmed Malaysia’s steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people in their pursuit of justice, dignity, and statehood.

Media reports today stated that the Palestinian group Hamas has agreed to the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza ceasefire plan, expressing gratitude for his efforts alongside those of Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt.

Anwar emphasised Malaysia’s unwavering commitment to championing truth and standing firmly with the international community against the atrocities inflicted by the Zionist regime on the people of Gaza.

“Malaysia, together with the international community, will continue to demand the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to the oppressed people of Gaza,” he said.

He added that Malaysia will further strengthen alliances with friendly nations, the Islamic world, and global humanitarian groups to advance aid missions and pave the way towards genuine peace, aspiring to see a free, sovereign, and dignified Palestinian state established.

“As long as the land of Gaza continues to be ravaged and defiled, we will not remain silent. Our voices will continue to resonate in the streets, on the world stage, and in the hearts of Malaysians,” he affirmed.

Reflecting on the recent solidarity rally held at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, Anwar shared his deep emotion witnessing Malaysians from all backgrounds come together in unity.

“The people of Malaysia, regardless of religion or race, gathered with one heart to show solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Gaza, who continue to suffer and are denied humanitarian aid. I was deeply moved by the sea of people present, filled with compassion and courage.

They came not out of compulsion, but because their conscience rejects oppression and demands justice. This is the true face of Malaysia — a principled, magnanimous nation that refuses to tolerate rampant injustice,” he said.

The rally also celebrated the return of humanitarian heroes from the Global Sumud Flotilla mission to Gaza and served to further ignite Malaysian solidarity with Palestine. - October 9, 2025
