THE plight of two families rendered homeless by a fire in Jalan Nuri, Kampung Seri Cheeding, Banting, two weeks ago has drawn the personal attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a Facebook post, Anwar revealed that he visited the affected households to deliver aid before attending Friday prayers at Masjid Nurul Hidayah in Banting.

“This incident is truly heartbreaking, particularly as one family tragically lost a loved one, a three-year-old boy who perished after being trapped in the fire,” he said.

“I hope this small contribution can offer some relief to the burdens they face, and I pray that both families are granted patience, strength, and ease in navigating this tremendously difficult ordeal.”

The fire occurred in the early hours of 6 February, destroying three homes in the village and claiming the life of the three-year-old boy. - February 20, 2026
