KUALA LUMPUR — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has warned against foreign interference and attempts to sabotage Malaysia, assuring that a thorough investigation is being carried out into allegations of a plot to undermine the country.
Anwar said the figures and data linked to the claims were “deeply concerning” and warranted careful scrutiny.
“I have examined the matter, particularly in relation to the latest threats that are still under investigation.
“In the case concerned, it requires a thorough probe because the numbers point in that direction (sabotage). It is very worrying.
“We may differ in this House, contest in elections and debate in sittings, but we must not allow ourselves to be used by foreign countries or foreign companies to sabotage the nation,” he said.
He was speaking during his debate on a motion condemning the attacks by Israel and the United States in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Anwar was responding to a question from Takiyuddin Hassan (PN-Kota Bharu) regarding a statement by Inspector-General of Police Mohd Khalid Ismail that police are investigating allegations of a coordinated effort to topple and sabotage the government.

Media previously reported that the Royal Malaysia Police had launched a probe into claims of attempts to destabilise the government and undermine national stability, allegedly involving influential individuals and an international media agency.
Mohd Khalid said police had received a report on the matter and that investigations are being conducted by the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit under the Prosecution and Legal Division (D5) of Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department.
Elaborating, Anwar said the government remains vigilant and prepared against any threats, including those from abroad, aimed at disrupting the administration and national sovereignty.
“Vigilance is necessary. Preparedness is necessary. To assume that everything is orderly and secure would be a major weakness in our thinking. On matters of national sovereignty and the dignity of our people, there must be consensus even if we are aware of the risks,” he said.
He noted that in the early years of independence, Malaysia faced communist threats from the Malayan Communist Party with external backing, adding that such possibilities must never be allowed to recur and endanger national security. — March 2, 2026
