The job scam victims abroad are suffering at the time of writing, and the call for the government to intervene in this matter was finally made by the former IGP recently, who expressed his concerns about the fate of the victims.
Just last night (September 20), Prime Minister Dato Seri Ismail Sabri revealed that he has met with the former IGP himself, the President of Malaysian International of Human Organisation (MHO), as well as the relevant ministers to address the matter.
“Efforts are being made”
While Sabri did not specify what he has up his sleeves, he assured the people via a statement and said that efforts are being made right now to ensure their homecoming, as well as the safety of the job scam victims abroad – namely in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand.
With all the channels and means they have, Sabri promised that the government will do their best in the efforts of rescuing the victims.
He also said that a meeting with the family of the victims was conducted to gain more detailed information which will be presented in the Cabinet today (September 21).
“Be alert of job offers”
It was revealed that the syndicate is allegedly “protected” by their own local authorities, but that does not mean we should just give in, and we can avoid ourselves from being their next victims. The syndicate often preys on the gullible, so it’s wise for us to be alert of job offers that seem too good to be true, as reminded by Sabri in his statement.
A victim claimed that he fell prey to a job offer that was seeking out a translator in Bangkok with lucrative pay.
“Keluarga Malaysia needs to check the validity of job offers abroad through Wisma Putra to avoid falling victim to job fraud syndicates,” the Prime Minister said.
With the Prime Minister having his eyes on the matter, we really hope that the victims can return home safely and reunite with their families in no time.
