Former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak claimed that the previous Agong had signed an addendum order which granted him permission to serve his remaining jail sentence under house arrest and the unity government has been keeping silent on the existence of the addendum order that was dated 29 Jan 2024.
Accordingly, Najib filed a judicial review at the High Court on 1 April 2024, naming the Home Minister, Prisons Department commissioner general, Attorney-General (AG), Federal Territories Pardons Board, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform), Legal Affairs Division director-general as respondents and for an order to compel either one of them to produce the addendum order dated 29 Jan 2024.
Your present Deputy Prime Minister filed an affidavit supporting Najib’s application claiming that he saw the addendum order which was shown to him by your Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry who has a copy of it stored in his mobile phone.
Your Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution claimed he has no knowledge of any addendum order regarding Najib serving his remaining jail sentence under house arrest.
The unity government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil told reporters that the Cabinet DID NOT discuss the DPM’s affidavit in support of Najib’s application.
You were quoted to have said at the Prime Minister's Assembly with officials from the Prime Minister's Department on 5 Feb 2024 that even though you are no longer the Federal Territories Minister, you remain actively engaged in reviewing the appeal submitted by the former Prime Minister.
If so, are you aware of the existence of an addendum order as alleged by Najib in his application?
If there is really an addendum order, why it was not disclosed publicly?
The affidavit by the Deputy PM saying he saw a copy of the `addendum order’ that was stored in the mobile phone of another Minister in your Cabinet clearly confirmed the existence of such an order.
He can't be making this up.
It is presumed that when the government did not disclose its existence, such an order obviously did not exist.
You can’t disclose or deny or confirm the existence of something when it doesn’t exist at all in the first place.
The Minister of Home Affairs, who claimed he has no knowledge of any `addendum order’ clearly contradicts 2 of your other Ministers i.e the DPM and the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry on the existence of an `addendum order’.
And since the DPM swore on the existence of the order in an affidavit, he is directly implying that the government you led is hiding the truth from the public.
Based on what was reported in the DPM’s affidavit, it is not just him and the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry who knew of the existence of the order, a few others also knew about the existence of the order.
It is only the PM10 and the Minister of Home Affairs that was not aware and knew of its existence.
Maybe it is time you should stop referring the madani government as the Unity government.
