PMO to boost public communication via live daily briefings

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) will begin live broadcasts of daily briefings aimed at addressing current issues, clarifying government policies, and combating the spread of fake news on social media.

These briefings will be aired on both the Prime Minister’s official Facebook page and the PMO's Facebook page, with two broadcasts each day, starting at 11 AM and 5 PM, beginning Monday, March 3.

According to the PMO, the briefings will be led by the Prime Minister’s senior press secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah.

The initiative aims to provide Malaysians with accurate, official information directly from the government, ensuring that people are well-informed and can distinguish between facts and falsehoods.

In a video shared on Anwar Ibrahim’s official X account, Tunku Nashrul explained the primary goal of the new briefing series.

"The main purpose of this initiative is to ensure that Malaysians have access to reliable information from credible, official sources," he stated.

"Through these sessions, the PMO will clarify key issues, update the public on important policies, and discuss significant developments that everyone should be aware of."

Tunku Nashrul emphasised the importance of the briefings in fighting misinformation. “This is a crucial step in countering the spread of false and misleading information that has caused confusion within society,” he added.

As the fasting month of Ramadan approaches, Tunku Nashrul revealed that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim plans to visit several ministries to meet with civil servants.

During these visits, the Prime Minister will engage in knowledge-sharing sessions with guest speakers.

“These programs are designed to instill values of honesty, discipline, and responsibility among civil servants, aligning with the prosperity pillar of the Madani framework,” he said.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will visit several states throughout Ramadan to further strengthen cooperation between the federal and state governments.

Tunku Nashrul assured that details on the dates and locations of these visits will be shared through official government channels in the near future.

The PMO also encouraged Malaysians to participate in these events, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective engagement. “We invite all Malaysians to join these events as a symbol of togetherness and national unity,” Tunku Nashrul remarked.

He added, “The PMO believes that clear communication, transparency in governance, and the reinforcement of spiritual values are essential to building trust between the government and the public.”

He called on the people to embrace the upcoming Ramadan as an opportunity for meaningful reforms. “Let us make this Ramadan a time for transformation in communication, governance, and our everyday lives,” he urged. - March 1, 2025
