Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called out leaders from the opposition bloc who mocked the Federal Government’s diplomacy efforts in resolving regional and global issues.
Moreover, Anwar questioned the acts of ridiculing him by calling him the “Telephone Prime Minister”.

Anwar expressed disappointment at being called the “Telephone Prime Minister”
Speaking at the MADANI Rakyat programme in Politeknik Merlimau in Melaka today, Harian Metro quoted Anwar as saying that through the efforts which certain quarters deemed “small”, Malaysia was able to help mediate Cambodia and Thailand during the conflict between the two ASEAN nations.
The Prime Minister asserted,
“Members of Parliament (MPs) mocked me by calling me the ‘Telephone Prime Minister’, but it was through these phone calls that we helped mediate between Cambodia and Thailand.”
“With those same calls, we joined others in contributing our small part to peace efforts,”
The Prime Minister revealed that Qatar approached him to help find a peaceful resolution between Afghanistan and Pakistan
Anwar further revealed that he was approached by the Qatar Government to support the initiative to bring together the Defence Ministers of Afghanistan and Pakistan in pursuit of peace.
He elaborated that Malaysia has good relations with both Afghanistan and Pakistan, hence our country was asked to emphasise and urge the 2 nations to find a peaceful resolution. This matter is currently being discussed in Doha, Qatar, revealed Anwar.
The Prime Minister said,
“That’s what we’ve been doing, reaching out to these three countries because we were asked to. Even though we’re a small nation, Alhamdulillah, we were given that honour.”
