KUALA LUMPUR — The Perikatan Nasional (PN) Supreme Council has approved the applications of Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) and Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) to join the coalition, marking an expansion of PN’s political base ahead of the Johor state election.

PN chairman Datuk Seri Ir Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar announced the decision after the council’s meeting last night, adding that seat distribution for the Johor polls will be finalised soon. “God willing, it will be finalised before nomination day,” he said at a press conference.

The seat allocation meeting will be chaired today by PN election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor. The Election Commission has set June 27 as nomination day, July 7 for early voting, and July 11 as polling day.

Pejuang, founded by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 2020, positions itself as a Malay-centric party focused on integrity and governance.

PCM, established in 2009, is a smaller multiracial party that has contested in several general elections but without significant representation.

PN itself was formed in 2020, bringing together parties such as Bersatu and PAS, and has since contested in multiple state and general elections. - June 23, 2026
