PN to contest 12 seats in upcoming Sabah state election

PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) will contest 12 seats in the 17th Sabah state election (PRN17) scheduled for 29 November, with internal discussions ongoing among component parties regarding seat distribution.

Vice-President of PAS, Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, confirmed the decision during a public rally held in conjunction with PAS Kelantan’s 70th anniversary celebrations last night.

“We will be contesting 12 seats in the Sabah state election, and we are currently in discussions with BERSATU and other parties within the Perikatan Nasional coalition,” he said.

Mohd Amar added that the coalition is aiming for a breakthrough in Sabah, where it has yet to secure a win.

“We hope that from the 12 seats we contest, we can win at least one — to break the egg, so to speak, in Sabah,” he said.

The Election Commission (EC) had previously announced that nomination day for PRN17 will take place on 15 November, followed by early voting on 25 November and polling day on 29 November. EC Chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun confirmed that the writ for the election has already been issued. - October 19, 2025
