MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said there was absolutely no politics involved in the ongoing case build-up against the Mindanao politician tagged in the multi-billion drug bust from Laos as investigation remained evidence and facts-based.
“Walang politics itong investigation (There is no politics in the investigation). We do not play politics,” PCol. Allen Rae Co, PNP spokesman told reporters in a briefing.
“Hindi tayo nakikihalo sa pulitika. Ang sa atin ay all our investigations are evidence-based, based on facts and based on documents, yun lang ang sa atin kaya nga ang sinasabi natin dito ang nilalabas lang natin ay kaya lang natin ilaban sa korte,” he added.
(We do not meddle in politics. On our part, all our investigations are evidence-based, based on facts, and based on documents—that is all there is to it for us. That is why what we are saying here is that we only release what we can defend in court.)
“Hindi naman papasa ang rumors, hindi naman mananalo ang tsismis at innuendos. These should all be based on facts and evidence, yun ang ginagawa ng inyong PNP,” he said.
(Rumors will not pass, gossip and innuendos will not win. These should all be based on facts and evidence—that is what your PNP is doing.)
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) revealed that an active politician from Mindanao was found to be the financier of the chartered plane that attempted to transport 521 kilos of shabu (crystal meth) from Laos to the Philippines on Oct. 1, 2026 that resulted in the arrest of one Filipino.
The plane, however, never entered Philippine airspace as it was intercepted at Luang Prabang International Airport in Laos following the pilot’s refusal to load the shipment into the plane.
