MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has mobilized tracker teams that include special action forces to locate and arrest fugitive Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
“The full force of the Philippine National Police is in play to bring the senator to the fold of the law,” Col. Allen Rae Co, PNP spokesman, said in a press briefing at Camp Crame on Monday.
Last week, the PNP offered a P50-million bounty for dela Rosa’s arrest. He was given one week to surrender.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. himself ordered an intensified manhunt for Dela Rosa but instructed security forces to avoid losing lives as much as possible.
Co said the one week ultimatum for him to surrender is a “sign of goodwill,” reiterating that the PNP always prefers a peaceful resolution to the matter.
The one week deadline will lapse on Thursday, October 29.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla had said that the senator is under the protection of a well-financed, heavily armed group in Mindanao.
