THE Philippine National Police (PNP) set a bold challenge for its personnel to achieve 100-percent efficiency rate in handling calls through the Unified 911 Hotline.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. issued the call after the system recorded a 96.15-percent efficiency rate from January to August 2026.
“An efficiency rate of 96.15 percent is a strong performance, but for a service as critical as Unified 911, every second matters and every call could mean a life. We must not be satisfied with what we have achieved. Our goal is 100-percent efficiency because every caller deserves a swift, reliable, and life-saving response from the PNP,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
The Unified 911 Hotline serves as the country’s central emergency response system, handling calls ranging from police assistance to fire suppression to search and rescue operations, ambulance services, and other urgent needs.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said that the unified hotline has been critical in saving lives and ensuring public safety.
Nartatez said investments in response assets are among the priorities in utilizing the PNP’s 2027 budget.
He said the PNP ensures that every cop is equipped to make a fast and appropriate response, connecting the emergency call with personnel on the ground.
“Every emergency call must translate into an actual response on the ground. We are investing in the right assets and capabilities so our personnel can act faster, reach those in need faster, and deliver the appropriate assistance when every second counts. Our goal is not simply to answer calls, but to turn every call for help into a timely and effective response,” Nartatez said.
