MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday is set to deploy 90,000 personnel to secure all related activities nationwide, particularly in major convergence areas and historical sites in the celebration of the 128th Independence Day on June 12.
The PNP has already placed all units under Full Alert Status effective 5:00 PM of Thursday until 11:59 PM of June 12.
“This ensures continuous deployment readiness, quick response capability, and sustained security coverage throughout the Independence Day observance,” the PNP said in a statement.
A total of 89,473 personnel have been deployed nationwide composed of 77,020 PNP personnel, 1,975 personnel from other units, and 10,478 force multipliers.
Of this number, around 16,000 personnel are deployed in the National Capital Region alone, strategically covering key convergence points and critical installations.
These personnel are strategically assigned to key locations including Rizal Park (Luneta), historic monuments, government facilities, transport terminals, major thoroughfares, and identified public gathering areas where large crowds are expected.
Security deployments also include augmentation at key venues, route security for official movements, and dedicated contingents at critical installations and other major government sites. Border control checkpoints and chokepoints have likewise been intensified to support law enforcement visibility and deterrence measures.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized that the police force remains fully committed to ensuring a safe and orderly celebration for all Filipinos.
“We are fully prepared to secure this important national occasion. Our personnel are on the ground, alert, and ready to respond at any time. Let's ensure that our independence celebration will be peaceful and safe for everyone,” he said.
