MANILA, Philippines — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Sunday said that the Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), will subpoena Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to require him to attend an investigation in connection with alleged extrajudicial killings.
“The CIDG will issue a subpoena tomorrow to General Dela Rosa to appear personally before the CIDG office here in aid of investigation of the people’s crimes,” Remulla told reporters in a briefing at Camp Crame.
He made it clear that the subpoena is “not an arrest warrant” but only a demand for the senator and former PNP chief to appear before the CIDG.
De la Rosa has not reported to the Senate since November last year following reports that the International Criminal Court has ordered his arrest.
Last week, the ICC clarified that it has not issued an arrest warrant against the senator.
