PNP welcomes salary hike, urges police to serve with integrity

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) welcomed the five percent increase in the base pay of uniformed personnel starting next year as a boost to the morale and welfare of police officers serving communities across the country.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the adjustment recognizes the dedication of police personnel who continue to perform their duties in protecting the public.

“The increase in the salary of police officers is a fitting recognition of their selfless service to the Filipino people. We thank the national government for the continuous support that boosts the morale of police personnel who secure our communities,” Nartatez said.

The Department of Budget and Management said P73.7 billion was earmarked for the subsistence requirements of military and uniformed personnel next year. Additional funds were also provided for salaries, personnel benefits, healthcare, equipment, and other operating expenses.

For the PNP, a proposed budget of P242.5 billion has been allocated for 2027.

Nartatez said the increase should also serve as encouragement for police officers to further improve their performance in the field.

“To every police officer, let this serve as a continuous motivation to serve with honor, integrity, and dedication in the interest of peace and order and the general welfare of the Filipino people we vowed to protect,” he said.
