Poa agrees with prosecution panel: 3 months are not enough for VP Sara's impeachment trial

MANILA, Philippines — Michael Poa, one of Vice President Sara Duterte's lawyers agreed with the House prosecution panel's assessment that three months are not enough for her impeachment trial.

The pre-trial conference for the impeachment trial of Duterte resumed on Monday as defense and prosecution panels continued the marking of their respective evidence.

"With the assessment of Rep. (Gerville) Luistro sa tingin ko (I think the) three months [trial schedule] is a bit tight. Sa tingin ko rin (I think so, too)," Poa said in a briefing.

"But again, 'wag natin sabihin with certainty ang mga bagay na yan (we should not say with certainty these kind of things). It will depend on the witnesses and phase," he said.

Poa said both sides were trying to speed things up. "Hindi rin pwedeng madaliin (it can't be rushed)," Poa added.

He declined to discuss what happened during the closed-door pre-trial conference.

"It will be unfair for us to disclose. We will provide you our position once there was a categorical pronouncement kung ano binabalak ng (on the plans of the) Impeachment Court," Poa said
