Alongside the Poco X8, the Xiaomi sub-brand has also announced the Poco F9 series, with the ‘base’ model here being the Poco F9 Pro. This is their latest flagship killer smartphone, packing the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V series chipset along with a more compact design.
Poco F9 Pro Malaysia pricing and availability
The Poco F9 Pro is now available for purchase in Malaysia from the Xiaomi Malaysia website as well as the official Poco store on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop, coming in two configurations:
- Poco F9 Pro, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM3,299
- Poco F9 Pro, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage – RM3,499
From now till 16 September though, you can get it with a RM500 discount on the base model, bringing it down to just RM2,799, while the 512GB model gets a RM400 discount, pricing it down to RM3,099. Those who purchase the Poco F9 Pro during this time will also get a free Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro, a 2-year warranty, free screen replacement within 6 months, 3 months of Google AI Pro and 3 months of YouTube Premium.
Poco F9 Pro specs
The Poco F9 Pro bucks the typical trend of large displays, packing a more compact 6.59-inch AMOLED display pushing a 2510 x 1156 resolution. It also supports an up to 185Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 10,000nits at 1% display area and 2,200nits in high brightness mode, full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut as well as HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. There’s a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i over it for scratch resistance too.
Under the hood, the Poco F9 Pro packs the 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series system-on-chip. This is the first smartphone in Malaysia to pack this chipset, which is a slightly cut down version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
That’s been paired with a VisionBoost D8 chip for an FPS boost, along with 12GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, with Android 16 skinned with HyperOS 3 over it.
As for its cameras, the Poco F9 Pro packs a 200MP, f/1.68 main camera flanked by a 50MP, f/2.0 floating telephoto offering a 2.5x, 60mm optical zoom, while an 8MP, f/2.25 ultrawide completes the triple rear camera setup. A 32MP selfie shooter meanwhile sits upfront.
Keeping the lights on is a 6330mAh battery with support for 100W wired HyperCharge fast charging, 50W wireless HyperCharge fast charging, 27W wired reverse charging and 22.5W wireless reverse charging.
Other features of note include Bose stereo speakers, a 3-mic array, an in-display fingerprint sensor along with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.
