PETALING JAYA: Poh Kong Holdings Bhd’s net profit for the fourth quarter ended July 31, 2026 (Q4’26) jumped 59.6% to RM36.2 million from RM22.68 million a year earlier, driven by the overall uptrend in gold prices.

Revenue for the quarter rose 3.5% to RM378.36 million from RM365.5 million previously, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

Poh Kong said the surge in gold prices during the quarter improved its operating profit and drove the increase in revenue. The group said revenue is largely derived from its retail segment.

However, Q4’26 performance was weaker sequentially, with revenue falling 35% from RM585.57 million in Q3’26, while net profit declined 48% from RM70.02 million.

The group attributed the sequential decline mainly to lower revenue in the quarter and noted that Q4 was traditionally a low-peak trading period.

For FY26, net profit rose 59.7% to RM193.37 million from RM121.1 million, while revenue increased 14.5% to RM1.93 billion from RM1.69 billion.

Looking ahead, Poh Kong said strong central bank buying, consumer spending and safe-haven inflows amid global geopolitical uncertainties are expected to continue supporting demand for jewellery and gold investment products.

It said it will continue to monitor geopolitical tensions, softer external demand, inflation and currency fluctuations, while maintaining its financial obligations and evaluating its performance.

Meanwhile, the board has recommended a higher final single-tier dividend of 5 sen per share for FY26, compared with 3 sen for FY25.

The proposed dividend amounts to RM20.52 million based on the issued share capital as at July 31, 2026 and is subject to shareholders’ approval at the forthcoming annual general meeting.

Poh Kong’s total assets stood at RM1.44 billion as at July 31, 2026, up from RM1.25 billion a year earlier, while cash and bank balances increased to RM48.68 million from RM29.11 million. Inventories rose to RM1.14 billion from RM978.59 million.

Total borrowings, including lease liabilities and an advance from the ultimate holding company, stood at RM182.72 million, down from RM192.22 million a year earlier.
