THE Pokémon Company and Nintendo Co. Ltd. said Pokémon’s first title for the Nintendo Switch 2, “Pokémon Pokopia,” sold more than 2 million copies worldwide within four days of its release on March 5, 2026.
The companies said about half of the sales came from markets outside Japan, based on Nintendo data that includes digital purchases.
“Pokémon Pokopia” is described as a sandbox-style game in which players restore a damaged landscape with the help of Pokémon characters. The game allows players to gather resources such as wood, stone and berries while building tools and developing an in-game world.
In the story, players take the role of a Ditto that has transformed into a human and work to build a settlement while interacting with Pokémon in the environment.
The game was planned and co-developed by The Pokémon Company, Game Freak Inc., and Koei Tecmo Games.
According to product information released by the companies, the game supports single-player mode and multiplayer play for up to four users through local or internet connections. It is available in physical and digital versions and supports multiple languages, including Japanese, English, European Spanish, French, German, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean.
Some features require an internet connection and a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership, the companies said. The physical version uses a game-key card that downloads the software during initial play and requires at least 10 GB of available storage space.
The game is the first Pokémon title released for the Nintendo Switch 2 platform.
