AN unnamed Japanese firm will move to the Clark Freeport Zone, according to Clark Development Corp. (CDC) President and CEO Agnes Devanadera.

“This firm manufactures Pokémon stuffed toys. Its initial investment is $200 million,” Devanadera told reporters at the Philippines–Korea Business Forum in Manila on Wednesday.

Pokémon stuffed toys are based on the characters and world of the Pokémon media franchise. They range from soft plushies for children to highly detailed action figures and model kits for serious collectors.

“The Pokémon plushies will be for export, but will [also be available] locally,” Devanadera said.

The project is expected to create 6,000 local jobs.

P4B project

Meanwhile, CDC and South Korean real estate firm Ozoo Development Corp. recently signed a lease agreement for a 200-hectare mixed-use property with a P4-billion investment in a golf resort with hotel and villa facilities to support tourism and leisure in Clark Freeport.

The deal — a Joint Management Agreement covering Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title 025-A — was signed by Devanadera and Ozoo chairman Nam Kwan Sik.

Once completed, the project will provide 120 direct employment and 450 indirect jobs.

The CDC was established in 1993 as a subsidiary of the Bases Conversion Development Authority and tasked to manage the Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ) and Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ).

CFZ and CSEZ are two of the fastest-growing investment destinations in the country today.
