MILAN – Italian football club AC Milan revealed that the police have apologised for stopping 27-year-old Tiemoue Bakayoko while searching for a shooting case suspect.
A video showed the Chelsea loanee being physically detained and searched by a policeman, while two other officers had their guns pointed to a car.

The public became aware of the incident, which occurred in Milan on 3 July, after the video was shared on social media today.
The French footballer was eventually released following the conversation with the police officers.
“After a shootout in the area where the midfielder happened to be, the police started making checks,” an AC Milan spokesperson said.
“The player was stopped but as soon as the police verified that he had nothing to do with what happened, they apologised and let him go.”
The Milan police have been contacted for comment by the media.
Bakayoko made 18 appearances for the Rossoneri last season when they became champions of Serie A.
The Frenchman joined Milan on a two-year loan agreement last summer. Prior to this, he also played for the club in the 2018-2019 season.
He moved from Monaco to Chelsea in 2017 for £40 million (RM216.4 million), where he appeared 43 times in the first season.
In August 2019 he returned to Monaco on loan before shifting to Napoli for a season-long loan in October 2020. – Agencies, July 18, 2022
