Selangor police intercept unregistered boat, arresting 30 foreigners including nine women suspected of migrant smuggling activities

SHAH ALAM: Police arrested 30 foreigners, including nine women, believed to be en route to the Sabak Bernam coastal area.

The arrests occurred at 12.15 am on November 15 in the Pantai Sungai Pulai coastal area.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said a police team detected an unregistered boat moving suspiciously and successfully intercepted it.

Officers ordered the helmsman to stop the vessel during the operation.

“Due to the swift action, police managed to arrest 30 foreigners, including nine women, aged 21 to 49,” Shazeli stated in a statement today.

Police also seized two mobile phones believed to be used in migrant smuggling activities.

The case is being investigated under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act (ATIPSOM) 2007.

Authorities are also investigating the case under the Immigration Act 1959/63. – Bernama
