Another local pilot has been arrested over alleged involvement in a drug trafficking syndicate and managing proceeds from drug sales.

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested another local pilot who allegedly acted as an “accountant” for a drug trafficking syndicate linked to a case involving a Malaysian co-pilot detained at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Indonesia on July 29, Kosmo! reports.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the man, in his 30s, was arrested in the Klang Valley two days ago.

He said investigations found that the suspect had been active in the same syndicate for about a year.

“Investigations found that the suspect is believed to have been responsible for managing the flow of money between the syndicate and the co-pilot who was previously detained in Indonesia.

“He managed the proceeds from drug sales that were channelled through him. In other words, he was involved in managing the proceeds of drug sales,” he reportedly said at a press conference today.

However, Hussein stressed that the latest suspect was from a different airline from the co-pilot who was previously arrested.

He also confirmed that investigations found the syndicate had an international network.

“Yes, this activity can also be categorised as money laundering,” he said.
