A man posing as an immigration officer to rob foreign nationals has been arrested in Kuala Lumpur, with police solving two related cases.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a local man suspected of impersonating an immigration officer to rob foreign nationals.
Dang Wangi police chief ACP Sazalee Adam said the 32-year-old suspect was arrested at 1.30 pm yesterday.
During the arrest, police seized clothing, a motorcycle, a helmet and a food delivery bag believed to have been used in the crimes.
Sazalee said the suspect’s modus operandi was to pose as an immigration officer, approach foreign nationals and demand their passports.
He would then flee with their wallets and cash.
“With the arrest, police have solved two reported robbery cases,” he said in a statement.
The investigation paper is being finalised and will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.
