POLICE believe the woman whose decomposed body was found buried in a bag near a house in Kampung Batu 4 Pedas died in Ampang, Selangor, before her remains were brought to Rembau, according to Negeri Sembilan deputy police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Idzam Jaafar.
He said preliminary investigations indicate the victim was strangled during an altercation at her residence in Ampang prior to her death.
“The woman is believed to have died in Ampang, Selangor, and her body was then transported to Rembau. Based on interrogations and statements, we found that the victim and the suspect were said to have argued at the victim’s house in Ampang.
“It is understood that the victim was strangled as a result of the dispute,” he said when contacted.
The discovery of the body led to the arrest of two men, one detained in Melaka and the other in Genting Sempah, Pahang, as police intensified investigations into the case.
Earlier, Ampang district police had appealed to the public for information on a missing woman, Suri Narudin, 53, who was reported missing since 8 December.
The case later took a grim turn following the discovery of the buried remains in Rembau.
Muhammad Idzam said the body cannot be claimed by family members until the victim’s identity is formally confirmed through forensic procedures.
“Although the investigation is focusing on the missing woman reported in Ampang, identity confirmation is still required. DNA samples have already been taken from several family members and sent to the Chemistry Department in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, and the results depend on the agency,” he said.
He added that visual identification was not possible due to the advanced state of decomposition.
“At this time, the identification process has not been successful because the body is already decomposed, so we are relying on the DNA report,” he said, adding that the process may take some time. - December 21, 2025
