Police and protesters clashed in Peckham as a large group of people attempted to block a coach due to transport asylum seekers from temporary accommodation to the Bibby Stockholm barge on Thursday, 2 May.

The bus was seen to have a flat tyre as protesters surrounded the vehicle, with some people sitting in the road near the Best Western Hotel.

A “number” of protesters blocking the coach have been arrested, authorities said.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: "A number of people have been arrested for offences including obstruction of the highway, and one for a racially aggravated public order offence. They have all been taken into custody.”
