PETALING JAYA: Kelantan police have cleared a teacher at a Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Tumpat of allegations by a former student that he is a paedophile.
Kelantan police chief Zaki Harun said they did not find any evidence to back the allegation after recording the statements of the teacher and ex-student.
“Our investigations found that there is no proof that there was any sexual harassment and there is no element of paedophilia towards the alleged victim, who is now 24,” Harian Metro reported him as saying.
Zaki said the teacher implicated in the allegations had a good attitude and track record.

The case is now being probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities, as the allegations were made on social media.
On March 28, a social media user claimed that a teacher at the MRSM was “clearly a paedophile and had been proven to be a paedophile” but was still attached to the school in Tumpat.
The former student claimed she had been warned the teacher concerned would send lewd texts if he found a student to be pretty.
In a later posting, she said she was looking for a lawyer who could provide pro bono services as she was facing a RM3 million lawsuit (by the teacher) for defamation.
Police confirmed receiving reports from a student who alleged she was a victim and also from a teacher who claimed criminal defamation.
The teacher has been suspended pending an internal probe by Mara.
