Police confirm mystery of Jaslinda's disappearance has no criminal element

POLICE today confirmed there are no criminal elements involved in the disappearance of female climber, Jaslinda Saludin, 49, since May 23, as reported on social media.

Tapah District Police Chief, Superintendent Abdul Malik Hasim, said initial investigations so far have not found any clues linking the victim's disappearance to criminal elements.

"I understand various allegations are circulating on social media, including those related to Ah Longs, but investigations revealed that her disappearance does not involve any criminal element," he told a press conference.

He also said that the search and rescue (SAR) operations for Jaslinda, who was reported missing on Gunung Batu Putih, will continue on a small scale starting tomorrow.

The decision was made at the SAR Coordination Meeting chaired by Batang Padang District Officer Ahmad Redhauddin Ahmad Shokori at the Tapah District Police Headquarters (IPD).

Abdul Malik said the search operation will be reorganised with the involvement of more limited personnel and agencies, led by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM). – June 3, 2026
